From ‘Tone Deaf’ to Standing Ovation – Zest Choir Lights Up Warmley Flower Show (Zest Choir Tues AM, Zest Choir Wednesday Evening, Zest Choir Wednesday Morning)

From ‘Tone Deaf’ to Standing Ovation – Zest Choir Lights Up Warmley Flower Show It was a sea of sunshine colours and smiling faces as over 40 members of Zest Choir took to the stage at the Warmley Flower Show on Saturday 2nd August. Our singers – from both Headley Park and Longwell Green – brought an explosion of bright yellows, vivid pinks, fiery oranges and lime greens to match the warm summer vibes. For many, it was their first time singing in public since school, but that didn’t stop them from stepping up with confidence (and maybe a few butterflies in the stomach). At Zest Choir, we welcome everyone – including those who’ve been told they’re “tone deaf”. We believe singing is for everyone, and performances like this prove it. With our trademark mix of warmth, humour and encouragement, those early nerves quickly disappeared once the music began. The audience needed little persuasion to join in. From the very first song, there was clapping, smiling and singing along, creating that magical connection between performers and crowd. By the finale, the atmosphere was electric – and some of our singers even received a standing ovation. It was more than just a performance – it was a celebration of courage, community and the simple joy of singing together. 🎥 Watch the highlights on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Z9U3tnlHdwU?si=cPRHddXguMQl_5IN Warmley Flower Show was just the start – and we’re already looking forward to our next singout. Whether you’ve sung all your life or haven’t sung since school, we’d love you to be part of it. | |

From Tone Deaf to Televised – Our Choir’s Five Minutes (and Fifteen Seconds) of Fame

Well, that escalated quickly. One minute we were warbling our way through a Wednesday morning at Longwell Green, the next we were being ushered in front of actual TV cameras, trying not to spill tea on national telly. Yes, folks – Zest “Tone Deaf” Choir has officially gone from local legends to broadcast sensations, and we’re still not quite sure how it happened. BBC, ITV, and Radio – Oh My!It started innocently enough. A lovely reporter said, “We’ve heard about your ‘Tone Deaf Choir’ – that sounds hilarious, can we come and film you?” Spoiler: nothing went wrong. Except for that one bit with the kazoo. We don’t talk about the kazoo. Soon we were on BBC Points West, ITV National News, BBC National News, and even getting airtime on the local and national radio. There we were – harmonising, giggling, and waving to people we assumed were watching at home (hi Mum!). What Did We Sing?Mostly in tune. We sang our socks off and told the truth: that we’re not trying to win The Voice, we’re just trying to find ours. And if it makes people smile, well then we’ve hit the jackpot. Reactions We’ve Had Since:
YES. YES, YOU CAN. So What Now?We continue exactly as we were: turning up, singing out, and not worrying a jot if the notes come out a bit sideways. Want In?If you missed our moment of stardom (how dare you), don’t worry – we’re still here, every Wednesday morning (10:15am) and Wednesday evening (7:00pm) at Longwell Green Community Centre, welcoming anyone who wants to sing for the sheer joy of it. Whether you’ve got the voice of a lark or the volume of a foghorn, we want YOU. No auditions. No judgment. No diva drama (unless you bring your own feather boa, in which case... fair enough). Come for the music. Stay for the mischief. And who knows – next time you see us on telly, you might just be in the back row grinning like a loon. Zest Choir: as seen on TV. (Yes, we’re still not over it.) |
